6 months!

That's half a year!

Abby turned 6 months old on May 16th. She had her 6-month appointment on friday- Doc says she looks great, healthy, and very happy! Her stats: She weighs 15 lbs 4 oz, is 26 1/2 inches long, and her head is 16 1/4 inches in diameter. According to the growth charts, she is a little thing! Her weight is in the 25th percentile, her height is in the 50th, and her head is in the 10th! This has been pretty consistent since day one. I was a head shorter than everyone in my class until high school, and pretty scrawny until college, so I guess so far she is taking after me!

She loves:
Being outside- looking around at everything, feeling the wind in her face (it makes her laugh!)
Reading books- this is a new thing. She used to be uninterested, but lately she has LOVED looking at books. Especially the "touch and feel" or "peek-a-boo" ones.
Sitting up- This is new too! She has gotten pretty good a sitting up lately, but falls over after a few minutes. We prop her up with her Boppy pillow. She LOVES sitting up and playing with her toys.
Other babies and children. She LOVES looking at pictures of babies, and if there is another baby nearby she will just laugh and laugh at it!
BRUISER. Nothing makes her laugh as much as Bruiser. Nothing gets her more excited than when Bruiser comes to sniff her face. She loves grabbing his hair or his chops and trying to eat him. Yummy.
Music. It makes her squeal and dance!!
Dancing. She has her "signature move" (see video below), and she does it ALL THE TIME. Sitting OR standing.
Eating- especially mashed bananas, butternut squash, peas, and prunes. (Mommy is not so much loving the new consistency of her diapers. ugh.)
Her sippy cup. This is also new- we started giving her water in a sippy cup lately since she is eating solids and no longer just nursing, and she LOVES to drink out of her sippy cup! I am glad to have skipped right over the bottle phase.
Going grocery shopping with mommy. Now that she can sit up in the cart, she LOVES running errands with me because she can look at everything, and people are always stopping to say "hi" to her.
People! She is quite the social butterfly, and loves being held, talked to, tickled, or anything, with anyone.

She doesn't like so much:
Getting her clothes changed. Especially when mommy changes her mind 5 times before picking an outfit.
Having a messy diaper. She LETS US KNOW! I am thankful for this, as it will hopefully make potty training a little easier?
Green beans and Zucchini, and sometimes avocado. Give me the sweet stuff, please!
Going too long without a nap. Must have three naps a day!!!
When mommy or daddy take away a toy shes been playing with.

She is a delight and getting more fun every day!!

Dancing Queen

Abby LOVED camp. She loved spending 6 hours a day with just daddy (and he loved it too!!! Even though 3 of those hours she was napping:)). She loved being held and loved on by so many students. Most of all, though, she loved being able to show off her new moves at meal times. She sure stole the show!!

She started doing this about two weeks ago and hasn't slowed down since! It's hilarious! I hope it means she is going to have more rhythm than Andy and I :)

Plan B

I just read an awesome post about being a mom, and since so many of my fellow mommies read this blog, I wanted to pass it on! Read this!
My favorite line is:
"I dare anyone to say that a Mom who is responsible for explaining life and death to a three year old whose pet frog suddenly stopped moving doesn’t have an important job. You want life changing? Try teaching an eight year old how to make the right choices about what he watches on television no matter that his friends all watch rated R movies and he feels left out. Do you desire adventure? Have a go at retracing your steps over a busy metropolis searching for the special shoes that your son tossed out a window at some point along the way, attempting to find them before a movie starts for which you already bought tickets. These can seem like petty errands, and indeed even to the most convinced mother there are times when we may look back at plan A and wonder. I know I have. It took a Kindergarten open house for me to get a confirmation of what road I’d decided to take. There in the hall proudly displayed for all to see was my daughter’s picture of what she wanted to be when she grew up. “See Mommy, I want to grow up to be a Mommy just like you.” I have to admit that there were tears from me. Maybe I’d done something right after all."

I know what it's like to be on "Plan B." Our "Plan A" was- Andy finish grad school and get a sweet job that paid enough for us to buy a house with a yard and 3ish bedrooms. Jenny be on staff for at least two years, get some experience with being on staff before thinking about children. And then along came Abby. And I am so glad. I am so glad that God's plans are always better than my plans. I am so glad that God's foolishness is wiser than the worlds wisdom. I am so glad that I get this incredible gift of being able to raise and shepherd Abby, and I would rather do this than any job in the whole world!

After the wedding...

Because you can't have a Lentz family reunion without going bowling...

We went bowling!!

Katie and I were by far the worst. But we still had a lot of fun!!

I love my aunt Carole!

We ate lunch at a place called "Mojitos," and so of course my Mom, my aunt Carole and I HAD to order mojitos. Yummy!!

We can't take serious pictures in this family.

We also got to celebrate Andy's dad's Birthday with a special birthday breakfast that Trisha cooked on Sunday morning. We had a sweet time with Bruce and Trisha, and Andy's brother Chris who was in town for the weekend, and Katie, celebrating what a blessing it is to have Bruce in our lives! You are such an enouragement to us, Bruce. And I don't think anyone has gotten Abby to laugh as much as he has yet! All he has to say is "hello Abby" and she cracks up! We love our captain!

The weekend went by WAYYY to quickly, and we miss everyone a TON. Good thing people keep getting married- with Dan and Katie getting married in July, we don't have to wait 3 more years to see everyone again!

Congratulations Brian and Sarah!!

A month ago we traveled down to Virginia Beach to celebrate with my mom's side of the family, the Lentz's, for my cousin Brian's wedding. The last time we spent time with this side of my family was for our wedding, three years ago! It was SUCH a sweet time with them. My family is really close and we really enjoy each other and have a great time together, even if it's only for a weekend. It was also special because it was the first time that everyone got to meet Abby! Here are pictures from the wedding:

I love these first two, because Abby's expression matches Dan's and Matt's in each of them. They are such sweet uncles!

Four generations!! My grandmother, mom, Abby, and I. It is so neat to see God's faithfulness through the generations. I have been blessed with a wonderful grandmother who loves God with her whole heart, and a mother who follows Christ faithfully as well. I pray daily that Abby will put her faith in Christ at a young age, and that the generations to come would praise him!

Katie caught the bouquet, which is fitting since their wedding is at the end of July!

It took 5 tries to get a picture out of these guys- they are so goofy and have way too much fun together!

It was great to spend time with my cousin Laura, who has been like a sister to me since I was little.

Our attempt to catch a family photo: as we took this picture, Abby started to break down. It was a little late for a five month old, she was such a trooper!!

My Dad was so sweet to hold Abby when she was fussy. Or, was he just trying to get out of dancing? Hmmm.... Well regardless, we was so cute with her!!

We're back!

PHEW! It has been a BUSY CRAZY few weeks! We have had: graduation, mother's day, a birthday, a baptism, exams, projects, papers, saying "goodbye" to students in IV, wrapping up the school year with IV, a week at Rockbridge camp, a wedding, visiting with relatives, a trip to Charlottesville, a trip to Virginia Beach.... I am exhausted just writing all of that!

But... we are finally home, the semester is over, summer is here, and I get a whole week off!!!
A whole week to:
-play with my sweet girl, who is now grabbing EVERYTHING she can, eating lots of yummy fruits and veggies, and almost scooting!!
-plant my garden!! And work on my flower beds.
-Get our home office organized
-UPDATE THE BLOG WITH LOTS OF PICTURES AND EVEN A VIDEO!

So stay tuned!
